About the IRC
The International Rescue Committee (IRC)
responds to the world’s worst crises and helps
people to survive and rebuild their lives. At
work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to
restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads
the way from harm to home.
Until March 2009, when the IRC and 12 other relief
organizations were expelled from Darfur by the Sudanese
government, the IRC provided healthcare, education, clean
water, and education to nearly 2 million people in the region.
Today, the IRC continues its commitment to the people of
Darfur through work in camps for refugees along the border of
Chad. The IRC established Ouré Cassoni camp in 2004.

camp and raised over $100,000 to provide solar cookers and
help end violence against women. New Jersey is the first state
